Mangalore: Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy Invites Nominations for Awards

The Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy has invited applications for the Academy Awards intended for veterans who have made valuable contributions to the Konkani language, literature, and folk arts.
 
Under the Konkani literary sphere, nominations can be submitted not only by short story writers, novelists, and columnists, but even researchers and scholars are eligible. Nominations can also be made by their well-wishers.
 
A renowned personality or an organization will be chosen for the award in recognition of his/her distinct contributions to promote Konkani language.
 
A veteran of Konkani folk art—play, music, folklore—from the nominees will be conferred with the award for his valuable contributions.   
 
Under the Academy’s book award, literary works from Kannada—Konkani or Konkani translation of Kannada—Konkani poetry, Konkani short stories / novel, will be considered for the award in each category. 

The book should have been published before December 31, 2009.  A minimum of four copies of the books should be sent along with the entries.
 
The last date to submit nominations is Friday February 5.  The entries can be personally handed over or sent to:
