Bagalkot, Jan 20: Prohibitory orders under section 144 were clamped in Guledgudda town in the district on Tuesday January 19, after a few idols in Lord Ganesha temple in the town were found to have been desecrated.

The protestors burnt tyres at the bus stand and the municipal road. The policemen caned the protestors to disperse them. Prohibitory orders were issued later, after the incidents threatened to go out of control.

Some miscreants had broken the idol of Lord Eshwara and the small statue of the mouse that is customarily installed in front of Lord Ganesha idols, found at the Lord Ganesha temple at Guledgudda. One of the four statues of Lord Eshwara stationed on the temple tower, was removed and found to have been abandoned in a local mosque.

The policemen have as yet, no clues about the miscreants behind this sacrilegious act. Investigations are on.
