Belgaum: Cow Slaughter Ban Legislation in March Session – Yeddyurappa

Belgaum, Jan 21: State Chief Minister, B S Yeddyurappa, declared that a bill to ban cow slaughter would be moved in the March session of the state assembly this year. “We will pass the act and ban cow slaughter in the state soon,” he said.

He was speaking after laying the foundation stone for the Appa Shivayogeeshwara Memorial Building at the 125th birth anniversary of Adrishya Shivayogi and birth centenary celebrations of Appa Shivayogeeshwara at Kadaravalli village of Bailahongala taluk of the district on Tuesday January 19.

He hailed the contribution of Kadaravalli Shivaogi in the conservation and popularizing of the culture of the Sharanas and the Vachana literature. He felt that because of the hard work done by him this culture and Vachanas have continued to prosper in this part of the state.

Dr Chandrashekhara Shivacharya Swami of Varanasi Jangamawadi Mutt delivered benedictory address. Ministers, Basavaraj Bommai, Umesh Katti and Lakshman Savadi, were present.

    Yeddi sir, minority people ready to honour the cow ban,but give subsidy to goat or sheep meat at let it to be RS 70-75 per kilo or the same price as cow, then no body will bother to go for cow meat.Please note that the meat price gone up because not only minority people eating the beef, this meat is eaten by now majority also in big number, if you want to make sure, please visit any local bars or pubs.

    The Cow Slaughter ban will automatically increase the price of other meat products and fish which is already beyond the purchasing power of common people. Please think once again before the proposed Legislation.
