Bengaluru: Involvement with illegal cigarette, masks sale - CCB officers get notices

Bengaluru, May 25: In respect of the allegation of involvement with illegal transportation and sale of cigarettes and masks during the period lockdown was in operation, Central Crime Branch (CCB) inspectors and an assistant police commissioner have been served with notices to appear for inquiry on Monday.

Assistant commissioner of police of CCB Prabhushankar as well IAS inspectors Niranjan and Ajay, who have already been suspended relating to the above allegations, have been asked by Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) to appear for the inquiry.

A case of demanding payment of bribe and corruption were levelled in the complaint lodged with the Anti Corruption Bureau. The ACB officials who raided the residence of Prabhushankar later had got access to certain important documents.

ACB said that the statements of the accused officials would be recorded this time. The statements of complaints have already been collected during the preliminary inquiry, they stated.
