Beltangady: Vijaynagar MLA Donates Elephant to Dharmastala

Beltangady, Jan 24: Vijaynagar MLA Anand Singh made a unique donation of a six-year-old elephant to Dharmastala temple, a first of its kind at a ceremony here on Sunday January 24 

Dharmastala has the tradition of elephantine service in various puja and celebrations. The service of adorned tusker is being used during annual festivities and special occasions. Elephant is thus a most treasured animal.  















“The devotees usually offer grains, vegetables or may be cattle. But Singh stood apart through his donation”, said dharmadikari Dr D Veerendra Heggade.

Singh also donated Rs two lac for the nurturing of the elephant which was named as Laxmi. Dr Heggade wished longevity to Laxmi at the service of Lord Manjunath.

Laxmi Anand Singh, Prathviraj Singh, Madhusudan Singh and family were present on the occasion. The elephant has been brought from Assam with relevant papers issued by forest department.
