Bangalore, Jan 24 (DHNS0 : 'Hats off to Deve Gowda for his zealous fight for the cause of the poor at this age.' This is how senior leader and former chief minister S Bangarappa praised the JD(S) supremo, who is spearheading a protest against the controversial BMIC project.
Speaking at a condolence meeting of former chief minister of West Bengal Jyoti Basu he said, “Gowda has been fighting for the cause of the poor and downtrodden and it is unparalleled. I will extend my full support to him,” said Bangarappa.
Veteran Marxist leader Jyoti Basu fought for the poor throughout his life. Gowda has very well imbibed the qualities of Basu, the former Chief Minister added.
Deve Gowda, speaking on the occasion, hailed Jyoti Basu as a secular leader.
The former prime minister said that he would dedicate a chapter on Jyoti Basu in his forthcoming autobiography.
