Mangalore: Seminar on Our Role in Panchayat Raj Election Held

Mangalore, Feb 25:
Samanvaya Mangalore and Catholic Sabha of Bajpe Unit jointly organized a seminar on Our Role in Panchayat Raj election at Bajpe Church Hall here, recently.

The parish priest of Bajpe parish Fr Mathias Pereira inaugurated the seminar and gave away his message. The director of Samanvaya Dr Ronald Cutinha gave the brief introduction of Samanvaya and explained the aim of the seminar.
 


The resource person, advocate Shirtady William Pinto explained about the present situation of Panchayat Raj System, responsibilities and role of the people. Another resource person Veronica Cornelio explained the rights and duties of elected panchayat members, facilities availed by the government to people and strategies to win the panchayat election.

In all 79 participants actively took part in the question-answer session. The assistant parish priest of Bajpe parish Fr Anil D’Silva, deacon Bro Robert D’souza, zilla panchayat member Lawrence Rebello, parish vice-president Sylvester D’Souza and secretary David D’Souza were present.

The president of Catholic Sabha Joachim D’Costa welcomed and secretary Gracy Sequeira proposed the vote of thanks. The managing trustee of Samanvaya Dr Pius Fidelis Pinto introduced the resource persons and Ivan Noronha compered.
