Mumbai: Nine BMC hospitals to turn ‘non-Covid’, situation easing

Mumbai, Jul 19: Civic officials have said that on Monday nine of the 16 civic hospitals will turning “non-Covid” which is clearly o positive sign.

As per BMC data 221 of the 1,737 ICU beds were vacant as on Saturday. Overall, 10,178 of the 22,666 beds were empty in the BMC’s Covid network.

Superspecialty hospitals—KEM, Sion and Nair— will continue to treat both kinds of cases.

Suresh Kakani said “We are still finalizing if we can open up nine or 10 of our 16 peripheral hospitals for monsoon illnesses.” He also added “Some of our hospitals treat both Covid and non-Covid patients but a few are dedicated Covid hospitals.”

Currently all 16 BMC hospitals in the suburbs are treating Covid patients.
