Bantwal, Mar 20: A welcome arch named ‘Maharaja’, which was erected at a cost of Rs 15 lac at Kadegoli, intersection of Pudu–Thumbe villages on National Highway 48, was inaugurated on Friday March 19.
Sri Gurudevanand Swami of Odiyoor Mutt inaugurated the welcome arch. In his message to the gathering, Swami Gurudevanand said that the sustenance of culture and traditions also leads to national prosperity. “A small portion of income contributed towards good deeds enables an individual to pay back the debt of society”, he said.
Sandalwood actor Darshan Thoogudeep was the main attraction of the programme.
Darshan said that one should not do anything which brings disgrace to parents and elders. “The society will respect one if one develops good character and is engaged in worthy causes”, he added.
Billava Sangh president K Sesappa Kotian, district Kottari Samaj Sudarak Sangh president M Purushottam Kottari, entrepreneur Walter Noronha, Dinesh K Devadiga, Ajit Kumar Chowta, welcome arch building committee honorary president Rajashekar Rai Kallige, vice-president Chandrashekar Ganbir, and treasurer Umesh Shetty Barke were present on the occasion.
Devasya Prakaschandra Rai welcomed the gathering. Secretary Tharanath Kottari proposed the vote of thanks while advisor Manju Vittal compered the programme.
