Punjab, Aug 19: Punjab Police have reported a major breakthrough against organised crime with the deportation of three alleged operatives linked to the Davinder Bambiha gang from Malaysia.

The three accused have been identified as Jaspreet Singh alias Jas Behbal, Ajay Singh and Pavandeep Singh. They were wanted in Punjab in connection with cases involving murder, extortion, explosives and other serious offences.

The operation was carried out by the Counter Intelligence Wing's Overseas Fugitive Tracking and Extradition Cell (OFTEC), with assistance from central agencies. The accused were reportedly hiding in Malaysia before being deported to India.

Police said the three men are also wanted in connection with an alleged conspiracy to carry out a hand grenade blast in Ludhiana. Investigators are examining their alleged links to wider organised crime networks.

The investigation is also looking into alleged links with Pakistan's intelligence agency, ISI, as part of the cases against the accused.

All three were arrested after arriving at Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi following their deportation from Malaysia. Punjab Police will take them to the state for questioning and further investigation.

The operation is being viewed as a significant step in the police crackdown on gangsters operating from abroad and cross-border organised crime networks.
