Mangalore, Mar 20: Savil Mascarenhas is a businessman by profession, a youth leader, social worker and a  familiar voice for the Konkan community of the region. Singing has been his hobby.

He hails from Vittal, but has now settled down in Milagres, Mangalore. He is a great fan of Dr Prashanth Raj. He met Dr Prashanth at Vamanjoor Church, when he was temporarily staying at Vamanjoor, and having been inspired by Dr Prashanth, he joined the Church choir at Vamanjoor and explored his singing talents. He participated in a good number of singing competitions held in and around the city and won several prizes.

After that, he was invited to sing for the cassettes.

As of now, he has sung for more than ten devotional cassettes (Fr Walter's Moddlolo Undo, Mai Tu Mogalli, Balidan, Mettam, and Kannada devotional cassettes, Aaradisona and Saanidya Keertans). So, both himself and Dr Prashanth have jointly ventured to produce 'Tujya Gharanth', a cassette of Konkani devotional songs, on the occassion of the first death anniversary of the late Everest Mascarenhas, Vittal.

His singing career began at a very young age of 7 under the guidance of Konkani Kala Rathn Eric Ozario.  First he sang for the Paradela Nite.
