Mangaluru: Ullal police detain man for harassing female staff of municipal council office

Mangaluru, Sep 29: A man was detained by police for harassing female staff of municipal council office and later let off with a warning.

Chennayaragudde resident Mohammed Sharif U B (40) used to consume an intoxicating substance, come to municipal council office and hurl expletives at the female staff at the office. A case in this regard based on the complaint from municipal council commissioner is pending against him in the court. The accused had continued to visit the office and harass the female staff even after the complaint.

Ullal station police personnel who were informed about it detained him in the evening on Monday September 29 and let him go after warning. It is gathered that Sharif consumed intoxicating substance, injured his hands with blades even at the police station creating anxiety to the police personnel. Earlier, Congress workers had warned him over a banner hung by him insulting the local MLA. But the MLA had not lodged any police complaint against him.
