Mangaluru, Oct 3: Byari Language Day - 2020 was celebrated by All India Byari Parishat of Dakshina Kannada district at the Ocean Pearl hotel auditorium in the city on Saturday October 3.

J Hussain, who presided over the function inaugurated the programme and said that decades ago a huge movement took place for Byari language and literature.

Speaking on the occasion, Mohammed Nazeer, MD of Mangaluru Smart City project, who released the land registration document that was registered in Byari language, said, "The release of first land registration document in Byari language after the fight for the survival of the language is really commendable. Byari language should not be limited only for literature celebration. Though ours is a minority community, we are identified in all fields. However, in the Sachhar committee report Byari language is not mentioned. In that report, it is mentioned as the Muslim community."

Basheer Baikampady, president of Byari literature and cultural association, Hanif, Farzana U T, civil services trainer, corporator Latif Kandak and D M Aslam, president of central Byari literature Parishat participated as chief guests and addressed the gathering.

Yusuf Vaktara vice president of All India Byari Parishat was felicitated on the occasion.

Abdul Majid Sooralpadi, Shahul Hamid Suratkal and Hidaytullah of block Congress were also present. Honorary advisor B M Mumtaz Ali distributed the prizes.

Mohammed Kunjathbail, vice president of All India Byari Parishat presented the agenda. Yusuf Vaktara declared the names of the winners.

K S Aboobacker, chief secretary welcomed the gathering. Mohammed Shareef Nirmunje and Harris Todar sang Byari songs. The programme was compered by Khlaid Ujire, vice president of All India Byari Parishat. Treasurer Nisar Fakir Mohammed rendered the vote of thanks.
