Beltangady: Craftsman dies after stone slips, falls on head

Beltangady, Oct 5: After a stone slipped and fell on his head a young craftsman who was highly skilled in the art of carving pans out of soapstone was killed on Sunday, October 4. The deceased was Raghavendra Acharya Golikatte (39).

Acharya was busy carving out pans from soapstone at Kavaligudde near Venoor when a stone, all of a sudden slipped and fell on him. He died on the spot due to the gravity of the injury he suffered in the incident.

Raghavendra had organised exhibition on carving of pans out of soapstone at the Dharmasthala Laksha Deepotsava, Tulu Sammelana at Ujire, Alvas Nudisiri and the farm mela organised by Dharmathala Rural Develolpment Project and the government. He has left behind his mother, wife, and two daughters.
