Bantwal, Oct 5: Health department contract and outsourced workers have been protesting for their demands without attending work for the last 12 days. They protested in front of Mini Vidhan Soudha on Monday by a silent prayer against the government that did not respond to their grievances.

The association of contract and outsourced workers of the department of state health, family welfare and medical education in the state had begun indefinite protests in support of Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangha (BMS) on September 24. 120 workers are protesting in Bantwal taluk including medical officers.

District panchayat member Tungappa Bangera addressing the protesters said that the demands of the workers are justified. “The state government is likely to respond positively. The minister in the state cabinet who is performing well is likely to discuss with the centre their implementation. I will refer the matter in the district panchayat also and try to provide justice,” he said.

Bantwal taluk like-minded organizations committee president Prabhaker Daivagudde too assured his support for the protests. Contract worker’s association taluk president Dr Prakash Kumar, secretary Vishwanath P and other workers took part in the protests.
