Karkala: Theives on bike snatch gold chain worth Rs 50,000 from woman

Karkala, Oct 5: A pillion rider on a bike is accused of having snatched a gold chain from the neck of an elderly woman and flee from the spot.

Kamala Nayak (77) wife of the late Vittal Nayak residing in Karkala, Udupi had taken her cow for grazing at Shivabettu private land, Erlapadi village on October 5 at about 8.30 am. The accused among two people on the bike asked Kamala the way to the house of V K Master. While Kamala was telling him that the house is near the farm close by, the man snatched the gold chain weighing about two sovereign from her neck and fled on the bike.

The gold chain is worth about Rs 50,000. A case under crime No. 83/2020 section 392 IPC is registered in Karkala police station in this connection.
