Udupi, Oct 5: A woman in Hiriadka has committed suicide by self immolation. Sujatha Bhanday (50), the deceased, was suffering from mental depression since the last 13 years. She was under treatment in Udupi Baliga hospital but was not cured.
Her husband had deserted her and married another woman. Troubled by this, she doused herself with Kerosene oil on October 4 behind her residence. The victim passed away due to severe burns on the spot.
A case in this connection is registered in Hiriadka police station under UDR No. 29/2020 section 174 CRPC on the basis of complaint by her son Nithesh (23), resident of Madibettu, Kanajar village, Udupi.
