TRP scam: Witnesses confess paid directly by Republic

Mumbai, Oct 16: On the ongoing investigation on the TRP manipulation scam, the city police officials said that four people have given statements before a magistrate that two TV channels made direct payments for keeping the TV on for a fixed duration to increase the viewership. The official further said that they would be treated as witnesses.

Of the four, three have deposed that Republic TV made them payments while the other one was said to be paid by Box Cinema as per the statements given. Parambir Singh, Mumbai police commissioner confirmed that two named Republic TV officials in rigging the viewership. However, he refused to disclose any further information stating it would hamper the investigation that is underway and in its crucial stage, sources from TOI stated.

The crime branch is investigating Republic TV, Box Cinema and Fakt Marathi on charges of TRP manipulation and rigging viewership which drives advertisement.

Statements from the witnesses were recorded under Section 164 of CrPC that deals with recording and confession of statements by a metropolitan magistrate or judicial magistrate in the course of investigation ensuring that the witnesses are made voluntarily, the police said. The police further said that now it could not be alleged any forceful confession from the witnesses.

    This is the height of incompetence and coverup. By twisting facts and changing statements truthcannot be suppressed. Why are they silent about India Today which has been named in the original FIR.Matter of time before their fake narrative will be exposed.

    It is vendetta politics. Intolerant brigade is in power by backstabbing the democracy first and now is murdering it..Shameful government and Mumbai police is justifying the murder of democracy. What about the lady who on air has accepted that she was bribed by India today.. It takes hard work ,guts and brain to reach at the top of business . By making a false case and harresing journalists maharashtra government is making a mockery of itself.

    Re.25 per message paid agent are trying put mud on the witness. It is not just witness there will be corraborative evidence of payment details and the boxes set up at places. But still the radical right wing wants to save a anti national media house then no one can punish them

    It is known from publicly available sources that only a few hundred to a few thousand homes are measured against a few crore people who watch news channels at a given time. Although the information on where the meters are installed is supposed to be confidential, there are miscreants who still indulge to rig the system. Statistically speaking, the sample size is actually too small and unscientific for measurement and extrapolation. You can be confident about your sample if at least 30% of homes are measured, but in reality, it could be much lesser than 1%. If their locations are somehow known, and small change causes a huge swing in the reported numbers.

    The joke is how can people even listen to that man for even one minute without losing their sanity. Follows his high command to make silly news sensational to hide the real problems the country is going through. Lies openly, spreads propaganda and fake news, big time hate mongering,, so openly biased towards the party that doesn't pay him. No wonder there is so much hatred in the country wherever you go. People have made hate as entertainment. History will remember this man as a joker.
