Udupi, Nov 26: As support to the All India general strike that was called by labour unions, a protest was also held in the city, against the anti-labor, anti-farmer and anti-people policies of the central government.

Addressing the protesters, chief secretary of LIC employees' association, Prabhakara B Kunder said, "The union government is ready to sell LIC which is goddess Laxmi of India. The union government said that it will bring black money from abroad and construct golden roads in India. Now the union government has indeed made roads of gold because of which people are not able to walk on it. They said that the black money of India will be brought back. Now they do not even have its count. They have resorted to selling goddess Dhanalaxmi of this country. LIC, which was formed with a capital of Rs five crore is worth Rs 32 lac crore. The public knows the service of LIC."

The protesters shouted various slogans against the central government asking to withdraw the four labour codes that are anti-labour, privatization of government manufacturing and service organizations, Rs 7,500 monthly and 10 kg grocery items should be given to all families that do not fall under the IT bracket, NPS should be cancelled and the old pension system should be continued etc.

Herald D'Souza of AIBEA, convener K Shankar, state member of AIBEA K Ramesh, Nagesh Naik, Ravindra U of BEFI and hundreds of protesters took part in the event.
