Puttur: Thieves Leave Businessman Poorer by Rs 10 lac

Puttur, May 18: A businessman from Kallare here found to his dismay that the thieves had broken open the locks of his home and decamped with cash and ornaments worth around ten lac rupees. The theft was committed when the family was away.

Venkatakrishna K K, an entrepreneur from Kallare in the town, had locked his home on May 15 for visiting his other house in Etadka in Kasargod district. He came back on the night of Sunday May 16 and found that the locks of his house had been broken and cash and ornaments placed in a locker were stolen.

Venkatakrishna’s wife had gone to Bangalore a few days ago. The thieves, who seemed to have kept an eye on the movements of the entrepreneur, who was alone at home at the time, encashed the opportunity they got, when he went to Kasargod.

Sniffer dogs and finger print experts visited the spot. A complaint was registered in the local police station.
