Govt’s Hands are Tied on Mutalik: Home Minister

Bangalore, May 19 (DHNS): Home Minister V S Acharya on Tuesday said the State government is unable to take action against Sri Rama Sena Chief Pramod Mutalik over the alleged “rent-a-riot” case, as the news channel which conducted the sting operation has not furnished a copy of the cassette.

“A day after the private TV channel broadcast its sting operation, the government asked it to provide a certified copy of the cassette. But they have not provided the cassette yet. Once we get the cassette, we will verify its authenticity and take appropriate action,” he stated.

Even in the Mangalore pub attack case action could not be initiated against the culprits, as none of the victims came forward to lodge a complaint, he added.

When questioned about the government not taking suo-motu action against Mutalik for reportedly negotiating money for organising a riot, the Home Minister said the police would look into those aspects of the issue.

“Suo-motu action can be initiated, when the police finds concrete evidence against any person, who threatens to harm any individual or the society,”he stated.

The Congress and the JD(S) are demanding that the government should take immediate action against Mutalik, besides banning the organisation.

Sources in the police department said that the police can file a suo-motu case against Mutalik considering his reported utterances as criminal conspiracy.

Mr Home minister there is something called being proactive. It is obvious you and your department have none of the qualities to manage home affairs.
It sucks when you hear your utterances of looking into, police will look into, no victims came forward etc....if you had the resolve to assure the people you would have tracked down the victims provided them security, brought the culprits to book and commanded the respect of the people. One litmus test to see how proactive one needs to be is HM if it was your family member(daughter/wife) would you say the same or take proactive measures?

    Mr Joshi/Muscat.

I dont need your advice. It is people like you and organisations like SRS/RSS/SS are responsible for the birth, growth of widespread terrorism. You people are responsible for the widening gap and growing hate in the society. You people are very good manipulators and advocates of ill founded ideologies. Why terrorists have not struck India before 1992. You know the reason. Now you tell me who has double standards and who is most hypocrite. Stop this nuissance. We dont need certifcate of patriotism from people like you and ur organisations nor we endorse your nationalistic views. Keep the mantra with your self and thats better for you.

By the way do you find hate, alienation and terrorism in Muscat which is an Islamci country??????

Govt's hands are tied because it is a partner in the crime. If it was done by minority members Acharya would have been over enthusiastic to frame nameless charges even on innocent members and torture them. The truth will prevail. You can't hide the truth nor run away from people's verdict for long.

Shanawaz and others, please do not comment just looking at the title of the news, read the full news, you will know what nonsense you are talking about. If Government has to punish people based on allegations, one entire community will be behind bars for terrorism. And everyone knows who religious fanatics are - those who put their religion before the country as d in another article recently. Hypocrisy and double standards on everything?

IN THIS CASE OUR MR. HOME MINISTER YET NOT RECIEVED THE CASSETTE FOR THE STING OPERATION CONDUCTED ON MUTALIK. FURTHER HE GOES ON SAYING THAT, ALSO IN CASE OF PUB ATTCK WE WERE UNABLE TO INITIATE ACTION AGAINST THEM AS NONE OF THE VICTIM CAME FORWARD TO LODGE A COMPLAINT. I MEAN DOES HE HAVE ANY SENSE. THEY GOT VIDEO TAPE WHERE THE SO CALLED RAM SENE ACTIVISTS SHOWED THEIR BRUTALITY AND THE LEADERS OF THE SAID GROUP CONFIRMING THE ATTACK BY THEIR OWN, IN THE LOCAL NEWS CHANNEL….. WHAT ELSE HE NEED TO INITIATE……

No crimes are without evidence. If no action can be taken by saying there are no complaints against who indulge in criminal activities then, general public has the power to take action. Once it is done ministers like Acharya would not hesitate to take action against innocent people without proof and without evidence.

Instead, the home minister could have been very truthful and honest to that, "we the hindu radical BJP govt. do not take any action on hindu extremists" instead of being a hypocrite.

SRS is the creation of BJP/RSS as Al Qaeda was the creation of USA/Pakistan. Mr Acharya cant take any action against SRS. If he does, he shall lose his chair. This is nothing but cover up and political stunt. Mr Muthalik dare not go out of karnataka and create problems. He is living in the fortified karnataka which is full of religious fanatics. Karnataka is a safe haven for Muthalik to make money, make violence as his fathers are protecting him, come what may.
