Udupi to Host ‘Tala Maddale Saptaha'


Udupi, May 21 (The Hindu): Yakshagana Kalaranga will organise “Tala Maddale Saptaha” at Rajangana here from May 24.

Lakshmivara Tirtha Swamiji of Shiroor Math will inaugurate the event.

Addressing presspersons here on Friday, secretary of Kalaranga Murali Kadekar said that 50 artistes would participate in the event.

The episodes to be featured are “Sugreeva Sandhana” on May 24, “Narada Sandhana” on May 25, “Angada Sandhana” on May 26, “Maruti Sandhana” on May 27, “Subhadra Sandhana” on May 28, “Sanjaya Sandhana” on May 29 and “Sri Krishna Sandhana” on May 30.

The Matti Muralidhar Rao Award will be presented to senior Yakshagana Tala Maddale artiste Bare Keshava Bhat at the valedictory function of the event on May 30. Chairman of the Karnataka Yakshagana Bayalata Academy Kumble Sundar Rao will preside over the function.

A “Tenku Thittu Bhagawatara” sammelan will be held on the Kalaranga premises on May 29. Thirty bhagwatas of Tenku Thittu school of Yakshagana are expected to participate in the sammelan. A conference of Yakshagana artistes will be held at Rajangana on May 31.

Nearly 500 Yakshagana artistes are expected to participate in it. The 11th annual general body of Yakshagana Kalaranga and a health check-up camp for Yakshagana artistes will be held on May 31.

President of Kalaranga Tallur Shivaram Shetty, vice-president S.V. Bhat, treasurer S. Gopalakrishna and joint-secretary Narayana Hegde were present.

    It will be great event of Kalaranga. Why can't we think of dedicating the event to the memory of Late Sri Malpe Ramadasa Samaga the great Yakshagana/Tala Maddale artist and a legendary who passed away recently.It will be fitting tribute to the daparted soul.
