Udupi: Damage to Grotto – One Held

Udupi, May 29: District superintendent of police, Pravin Madhukar Pawar, informed at a press conference held here on Thursday May 27 that a person has been taken into custody in connection with the damage inflicted on a grotto of Mother Rosario in Majalubettu in Pilar village in the taluk. The incident had occurred on the morning of Wednesday May 26. This area falls within the jurisdiction of Shirva police station.

In a complaint filed with the policemen, a local resident, Gabriel Mathias, had informed them of the incident. The left and right hands of the statue in the grotto as well as the protective glass covering had been shattered in the incident. The accused, Ravi Quadros (40), was arrested after a team led by Shirva station house officer, N C Ganesh and staff, took upon the work of investigation.

Quadros, a resident of the same village, was found to be mentally deranged. He confessed to the crime. The accused was produced in the court and released on bail, Pawar informed.

Deputy superintendent of police, Santosh Kumar, and Kaup circle inspector, Cheluvaraju, were present at the press conference.

    A patient under depression/ mentally ill he doesn't know what he is doing.As per my knowledge this man is from a good family ,might be the circumstences made him to do this crime.Its difficult to judge a ill person.

    The person is mentally deranged how can anyone relay on his statement. Confused.
    Good at least on his name the tension vanished, whether he involved or not, God bless him - please give him good treatment.
