Bantwal, Dec 17: Member of Bantwal taluk panchayat, Congress leader Kumar Bhat Badikodi has resigned from his taluk panchayat membership.

Speaking at a press conference called by him at Vittal press club, he said that he had to resign as some people were against the development of the constituency.

“Persons who do not belong to Vidhan Sabha constituency limits had taken a decision that taluk panchayat members should not come to Kanyana gram panchayat. But I was not the one to bring a stay order, just to save the Congress from embarrassment,” he said.

“Persons wearing white pants and shirts have praised the party leaders and created the current political situation. There was a demand that party activists should not resign at any cost. But, the number of challenges and humiliations faced by me, made me resign. I gave up on contesting as an independent candidate as I would not have support from anyone in Kanyana gram panchayat elections. The basic culture of Congress is destroyed. However, I have not yet taken a decision on joining BJP,” he said.
