Kundapur, Dec 18: “The farmers in Punjab are being misled. People of Punjab have contributed immensely for the country. Our government has great regards for them,” said MP Shobha Karandlaje.

Speaking in a news conference held at the BJP office in the city on Friday, she said that APMC middlemen want to control the political party. “Though farmers do not get suitable prices from them, the APMC agents are misleading the innocent farmers and causing unrest.

“As gram panchayat elections are approaching, all the preparations are made for them observing Covid guidelines. Party activists are working day and night for the success of the party candidates. The party workers play a major part in the victory of BJP-supported candidates.

“We had said that we will complete the overbridge work before December, but the work is delayed because of the corona. We will call a meeting in the first week of January and give a deadline to complete the work. We will ask not to collect toll if the work is further delayed. There are platforms in law. A letter written to the government to collect road tax instead of toll is being discussed. Union minister of roads and highways, Nitin Gadkari will inaugurate the Kundapur Honnavar highway on Saturday through a virtual programme. We are working quickly for the release of Harish Bangera jailed in Saudi Arabia. We will convey the sweet news of his release to his family soon,” she added.
