Udupi: Gram panchayat elections – DC bans fair, processions

Udupi, Dec 18: Gram panchayat elections will be held on December 22 and December 27. The deputy commissioner has banned fairs and processions under Gram Panchayat Swaraj and Panchayat Raj Act on the days of elections in the gram panchayat limits where the elections will be held.

The ban on December 22 will be applicable on weekly fairs in Uppunda, Muddoor, Kolalagiri and Belanje villages where the first phase of elections will be held on December 22.

Similarly, the ban on December 27 will apply for Gangadhareshwar temple fair in Irvathur village, Brahmalingeshwara temple fair in Neere gram panchayat and Aryadi Janardhana temple in Pangal village as the second phase of elections will be held there on December 27.
