Mangaluru, Dec 20: Joseph Mathais, NRI businessman and philanthropist released the book ‘Feliz Navidad’ a collection of satires written by young Konkani writer Roshan Sequeira on Saturday, December 19 at Sanidhya auditorium, St Aloysius College, Mangaluru.

‘Feliz Navidad’ has been published by Henry Mendonca for Kittall Publication.

Fr Praveen Martis principal, St Aloysius College graced the event as chief guest. Releasing the book Joseph Mathias said, “The pandemic took us back to our yesteryears. During the lockdown, we learnt much about our homely foods, relations and culture which is much needed. During these times our young writer Roshan penned beautiful satires and gifted it to the Konkani world. I believe this is the first book released after the lockdown. I congratulate the writer and the publisher. In Konkani, there is limited literature in the field of satire. Our young writers should fill this gap and entertain readers with their writings."

Wishing the writer the best, Fr Praveen Martis said, “The happenings in our life are the best topics for satires. First, we should laugh at ourselves, on our mistakes and comical moments. Then we should realize where we made mistakes. Nowadays we do not see laughter on people's faces. All are busy with activities. They do not have the time to sit in one place and spend a few entertaining minutes. But the kind of books that Roshan has written can help people relax and have some fun while reading. Whatever is done in the mother tongue, it always makes us feel special. Same time knowing other languages is also very important because we are living in a society which has diversity in languages and cultures. The essence of each language in our life makes us most wise and intelligent. I congratulate Roshan and Kittall Publication on the release of this book post the lockdown.”

Henry Mendonca briefed about the new book and the publication's contribution to language. Roshan Sequeira welcomed the guests gathered. Pinto Vamanjoor rendered the vote of thanks.
