Bhatkal: Coast guard rescues fisherman from drowning after his boat capsizes

Bhatkal, Dec 22: Bhatkal coast guard has rescued a fisherman from meeting a watery grave. Yadav (32), resident of Sanabhavi village here had gone fishing near Alvekodi Kakigudda island in the Bhatkal coast guard police station limits in boat bearing the number IND KA 04 NM 391 at about 5 am on December 21.

The boat capsized due to strong winds and Yadav had was thrown out of the boat on impact. Meanwhile boat captain Mallappa Mudigowda, CPC 2354 Dinesh Naik and Kalasi Sanjiv Nayak and KND 938 Janardhan Mogera of CSP station who were patrolling in an interceptor boat KWR 044 were alerted. Following which, the officials rushed to the spot and rescued Yadav and the boat.

The fisherman was administered first aid and taken to Alvekodi jetty. The SP congratulated CSP Bhatkal station officer and staff. The staff will be felicitated with a letter of appreciation.
