Bagalkot, Dec 22: In an incident which happened at Hanagandi village in Terdal taluk in the district on Monday December 21, a man killed his wife by dropping a boulder on her head.

In this incident, Umashree Ganapathi Kunchanoor (30) from Hanagandi village was killed. Her husband, Ganapathi Kunchanoor (42), who always suspected his wife's character, used to fight with her frequently. Fed up by his behaviour, Umashree had deserted him and gone back to her parental home. At the advice of her elders, she had returned to her husband six days back.

On Sunday night, Ganapathi came home drunk again and fought with his wife. When she was sleeping during the early hours of Monday December 21, he dropped a heavy boulder on her head as a result of which Umashree died instantly. When the children went to wake their mother in the morning, they found her lying in a pool of blood.

The police were called thereafter and Ganapathi was arrested.
