Puttur, Dec 25: In a tragic incident which happened at Apinimoole in Panaje village in the taluk, on the evening of Thursday December 24, a three-and-half-year-old child was playing in the courtyard of a house fell into the swimming pool in the garden in the neighbourhood and passed away.

The unfortunate child was Muhammad Sanid, son of Abubakker Siddique and Asma, couple from Apinamoole.

The child was playing in the verandah of the house on Thursday evening and disappeared all of a sudden. When the family members went searching, the child was reportedly seen to have fallen into the swimming pool located in a garden belonging to Ram Kumar living in the neighbourhood. The child was immediately brought out of the water and rushed to the government hospital at Puttur, but by then the child reportedly succumbed."

A case of unnatural death in this connection was filed in the rural police station here. The police are investigating.
