Udupi: Software engineer drowns in sea at St Mary Island

Udupi, Dec 25: A tourist on a visit to St Mary Island near here on Thursday December 24, drowned in the sea. He has been identified as Mahesh (43), a software engineer at Bengaluru and resident of Kanakapura.

Mahesh had arrived at the said island with his wife and two sons studying in the eighth and third standard for fun. It is said that Mahesh drowned when trying to rescue his son who was playing in the sea.

The staff of Jai Hanuman speed boat rescued the man who was drowning and brought him to Malpe. Mahesh was taken to Malpe in a serious condition. The ambulance staff and members of the lifeguards' team rushed him to a hospital at Udupi, but by the time they reached the hospital, Mahesh breathed his last.
