Madikeri: Wild elephant attack kills forest department employee

Madikeri, Dec 26: G Gururaj, an employee of Karnataka forest department, lost his life after a wild elephant attacked him all of a sudden. The incident happened Friday December 25 within the limits of Nagarahole zone of the forest department.

Gururaj had entered just 200 meters inside the forest from Doddahalla main road for beet duty when the wild elephant suddenly ambushed him. Forest watchers, Chandra and Ashok, who were nearby, saved themselves by running away. Gururaj who could not escape, suffered serious injuries. He was provided first aid at the Kutta hospital. When he was being taken to the hospital at Mysuru, he breathed his last on the way.
