Bengaluru: Brother-sister duo drown in quarry's standing water

Bengaluru, Dec 27: In a tragic accident which happened at a spot within the limits of Chikkajala police station on Saturday, December 26, a girl who was giving her pet dog a wash drowned in the standing water of a stone quarry. Her elder brother rushed to rescue her but he too met a watery grave.

Jennifer (17) a resident of Betta Halasur and her elder brother, Prem Kumar (23) died in this accident.

The family had left their home at Betta Halasur at 4 pm on Saturday, They went trekking near a stone quarry. Jennifer planned to give her a pet dog a good bath there. When she was doing so, she lost her balance and drowned in water. Prem, who noticed that his sister was facing peril, went into the standing water to save her. He too drowned thereafter.

As both did not return, the family members called the emergency number. The fire brigade personnel who arrived there later undertook an operation and brought both the bodies out, the police stated.
