Tumakuru, Dec 30: The interim bail application moved by Allama Prabhu, principal of the Tiptur Boys PU College, has been rejected. He has been accused of misusing money meant to disburse salaries to guest lecturers.

Allama Prabhu went missing as soon as the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials undertook the inquiry. The seventh district sessions court judge, Sudhindranath, who heard the plea, issued an order on Tuesday December 29, quashing the petitions. The judge remarked that this incident has shocked the judiciary system.

During the hearing, advocate S P Kulkarni represented the principal while Prakashi was the advocate of the Anti-Corruption Bureau.

In this case, Allama Prabhu, who is the principal of boys PU college at Tiptur and first grade assistant, Sunil Koorgi, had recorded payment of salary to guest lecturers from the college development committee. Later, when the pay was received from the government, the money was transferred to the accounts of people who were not eligible to receive the money. The amounts were wrongly credited to the account of Koorgi's wife, brother in law of Allama Prabhu etc. The government had asked ACB to probe the incident.
