Kundapur, Jan 14: It is believed that Brahma Lingeshwara temple at Maranakatte, one of the famous temples in Udupi was founded by Adi Shankeracharya.

The annual festival in the temple was celebrated on January 14. Mangalarati was held in the morning. Devotees visited the temple as every year and offered puja this year. Devotees carried flowers, fruits and vegetables on their heads and took prasada to their residences.

As several people in Mangaluru, Udupi, Karkala, Brahmvara, Padubidri and those in the north are devotees of the Brahmalingeshwara deity, special buses and vehicles were arranged for them on the day of the Genda festival.

The programme was held on account of Covid-19 this year. Devotees will not be permitted for Genda seve at night. Managing trustee, C Sadashiva Shetty, Chittur Garadimane family members, temple priests, staff and villagers are working for the success of the festival.
