Beltangady: Gold Worth Rs 6 Lac Stolen from Temple

Beltangady Jun 20: Gold ornaments worth Rs 6 lac were stolen from Kolli Durgaparameshwari temple here on Friday June 18.

The incident came to light on Saturday morning when the priest came to the temple and saw the locks of the doors broken with all the ornaments of the idol missing. The thieves have stolen all the gold oranaments from the temple but silver ornaments were left untouched.

The police investigative squad visited the temple with finger print experts and has collected evidences. ASP Amit Sing offered guidance to carry out the investigations.  Circle inspector Bhairappa is handling the case.

Police suspect that the people who are familiar with the temple might have been involved in the robbery. A case has been filed by the temple managing committee president  Vasu Dev Rao.
