Moodbidri: Deer dies after hitting gate when crossing road

Moodbidri, Jan 29: A deer aged about three years, which was crossing the road at high speed after racing down from the forest in Marpady village died after colliding with the gate of a house at Mariyadi here. The incident happened on the afternoon of Thursday January 28.

The deer suffered injuries in its face and neck. A person who was passing that way in his vehicle tried to help it survive, but his efforts went in vain.

Veterinary officer Dr Ravi Kumar, performed the postmortem. Assistant forest conservator Dr Prashanth, and range forest officer Prakash Poojary, were present when the deer's mortal remains were consigned to flames.
