Udupi: Kasturba Hospital accredited under Ayushman Bharat-Arogya Karnataka Scheme

Udupi, Jan 29: Kasturba Hospital Manipal recently received a certification of appreciation from the Karnataka Government and Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojna for their exemplary performance under the Ayushman Bharat-Arogya Karnataka scheme.

The certificate was handed over to Dr Avinash Shetty, the medical superintendent of Kasturba Hospital by Angara S, district-in-charge minister of Udupi and minister for Fisheries, Port and Inland Transport, Government of Karnataka on January 26 at the Udupi district Republic Day function. The Kasturba Hospital was also appreciated by the Government of India as one of the best performing private hospitals and invited to Delhi for the first-anniversary celebration of Ayushman Bharat in 2019 in the presence of the prime minister of India.

Since empanelled under the Ayushman Bharat-Arogya Karnataka Scheme in 2018, Kasturba Hospital has treated 15,000 patients under this scheme and 13,000 were BPL patients. During the covid pandemic, the hospital has treated 1043 covid patients under Ayushman out of which more than 400 are in ICU. The following numbers are some of the important categories of patients treated under the Ayushman Bharat-Arogya Karnataka scheme:

3,000 cardiac patients

555 heart Surgeries

1,055 neuro-surgeries

905 ortho surgeries

140 pediatric heart surgeries

415 neonatal patients

535 pediatric patients

900 cancer patients
