Kundapur, Jan 29: “The assurance that the flyover work will be over by March 31 was given in a meeting in the presence of officials. We will prepare for its inauguration on April 1. We will not allow prolonging the work and take more time,” said municipal councilor Chandrashekar Kharvi.

“The matter was placed in an ordinary meeting. People in Kundapur are tired of four-lane works here. It appears that the work will not be over by March 31. However we will be preparing for the inauguration,” he said.

There were objections to the absence of highway officials without answering questions raised about the highway. Members who were not satisfied by the answer by Navyug company toll manager were angry due to the absence of officials.

President Veena Bhasker said that the officials will answer in the next meeting. Member Abu Mohammed spoke about five problems on the condition of the service road. Member K G Nithyananda Batradi spoke about the condition of the road from Shastri circle. Girish G K and Santhosh Shetty demanded that national highway engineer give an explanation.

Chandrashekar Kharvi threatened to leave the hall if all the 23 members do not explain about the UGD meeting. Mohandas Shenoy said that it was not an official meeting.

Sridhar Sherigar refused to admit it. “Keeping the members in the dark is not right,” he said. There were arguments between the ruling and opposition members in this connection. Mohandas Shenoy who intervened said that there are several confusions relating to UGD. Let us call for a meeting of senior officials including Sulochana Bhat. The national highway engineer also should attend it. Let us decide about it, he said.

Municipal council president Veena Bhasker presided over the meeting. Vice president Sandeep Kharvi and chief officer Gopalakrishna Shetty were present.
