Bangalore: Leaders Resent Withdrawal of Cases Against Sangh Parivar Leaders

Daijiworld Media Network – Bangalore (SP)

Bangalore, Jun 21: Leaders of different political parties and other organizations have vociferously expressed their resentment at the initiatives undertaken by the state government to withdraw criminal cases filed against the leaders of the Sangh Parivar. A number of Sangh Parivar leaders face numerous cases in police stations, particularly relating to communal disturbances, across the state. The withdrawal is being branded as anti-constitutional and shameless, among others.

Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee president, R V Deshpande, has blamed the state government for its action in systematically withdrawing criminal cases standing against the Sangh Parivar leaders. “The withdrawal of criminal cases gives rise to apprehension among the minorities. This in effect, vitiates the harmonious atmosphere in the state, which is full of peace-loving people. The state government is clearly not functioning as envisaged in the constitution,” he commented.

Deshpande said that the government’s aim in withdrawing these cases makes it clear that it wants to fuel communal disturbances in the state. He said that his party will raise this topic in the assembly, besides organizing a united fight against the said move.

State Raita Sangha working president, Kodihalli Chandrashekhar, termed the step as being against human values and harmony. He said that the Raita Sangha will launch a strong protest against this step.

JDS leader, C Narayanaswamy, is of the view that the state government’s move reeks of shamelessness. He added that if Yeddyurappa was in the opposition under such circumstances, he would have repeatedly demanded the resignation of the Chief Minister.

Former Kannada Sahitya Parishat president, Chandrashekhar Patil, apart from veteran writer and state leader of Dalit Sangharsh Samiti, Indudhar Honnapur, have also termed the step as a conspiracy to saffronize the state, and have given a call to the people to fight against this step.

On October 16th 2004 Mr. B S Yeddyurappa’s wife Mythra was found dead in a water tank in front of the house and believed to have died due to drowning after she accidentally slipped into it. The police had noted that the deceased was five feet and five inches tall while the water level in the tank at the time of drowning was only four feet. Police registered a case but this case was also withdrawn.

Congress is only worried about these minorities, they are not worried about the sentiments of majority of the Hindus. Moreover Deshpande does not have any moral right to talk about others mistake as he and his party is a corrupt and minority appeaser just for votes.
