Bantwal, Jun 22:
The stretch of road passing through the city center at B C Road seemed to have received a facelift on Monday June 21 after the cleaning operation undertaken by the district administration on Saturday June 19 and Sunday June 20.

The road had been in a deplorable condition for the past few months. A lull in the monsoon on Monday enabled the contractor to expedite the work on laying a service road.

The road concreting work on the other side of the fly-over was on till Monday evening with the leveling of soil near Bharath Store using earthmovers.

Traffic on NH 48:

A total ban was imposed on movement of all vehicular traffic in B C Road locality throughout Sunday.  The traffic was restored on Monday morning and eased the backup which had occurred at Uppinangady.

The traffic police had a tough time curbing the rush of heavy vehicles plying enroute B C Road towards Mangalore and Bangalore.  However, the smooth movement of traffic was witnessed on Monday once the pile up cleared.
