Udupi, Jun 22: District deputy health education officer, K N Appaswamy Gowda (55) breathed his last after a brief illness in a private hospital in Mangalore on the night of Monday June 21.

He is survived by his wife, Shashikala, a son and a daughter. Shashikala works as junior health assistant in Nitte community health centre.

Gowda, who joined health services in 1986 at Nitte community health centre, worked at Belman health centre since 1997. He later, took over charge as the deputy health education officer of the district.

Karkala MLA, H Gopal Bhandary, district health officer, Dr Ramachandra Bairy, government employees association president, Subrahmanya Sherugar, Belman primary health centre medical officer, Dr Satish and several others have condoled Gowda’s untimely death.
