Mangaluru Feb 2: “JD(S) and BJP are insulting Dakshina Kannada by demanding the resignation of Legislative Council chairman K Prathapchandra Shetty,” said former MLA Abhayachandra Jain.

Addressing media here on Tuesday February 2, he said, “Prathapchandra is a senior and selfless leader, who never demanded a cabinet minister’s post during his tenure as MLA. We condemn JD(S) and BJP nexus in demanding his resignation. Both the parties are insulting Dakshina Kannada with this move. For the sake of power, JD(S) has joined hands with BJP and supported no-confidence motion against Prathapchandra. People should know the real face of JD(S) which calls itself a secular party.”

District Youth Congress president, Mithun Rai said, “The nexus of JD(S) and BJP has insulted the district and also the Bunt community. Never in the history of the state was resignation demanded from the council’s chairman before completion of his term.”

Corporator Praveen Chandra Alva was also present.
