Mangalore: Fireman Commits Suicide

Mangalore, Jun 23: Ravindra Moolya (27), a resident of Karkala, working for the fire brigade at Pandeshwar here, committed suicide by drowning in Gujjarakere tank in the city on Tuesday June 21 evening.

Some locals, who saw a man entering the tank water and moving deeper into it before vanishing at around 4.30 pm on Monday, informed the fire brigade over phone. The fire personnel rushed to the spot. After failing to find any body in the tank, they returned at about 7.30 pm.

The search was resumed on Tuesday. In the afternoon, after recovering the body following a long search, the fire brigade men found out that the man was their own colleague. Ravindra had worked during the night shift on Sunday and was to report for duties on Monday evening. The policemen have registered a case of suicide.
