Mangaluru, Feb 5: Relating to the alleged sale of a luxury car belonging to three persons from Kerala who were arrested in connection with the alleged financial irregularities, the internal inquiry has to be conducted, said city crime and traffic deputy commissioner of police, Vinay Gaonkar.

As soon as the fact that a Porche car that was in the custody of the police had gone missing and rumours that it has been sold was published by the media, city police commissioner, N Shashi Kumar, asked Gaonkar to investigate the incident and file a report. Sources said that he has been asked to file preliminary report within three days and detailed report under the guidance of the city police commissioner, thereafter.

If found necessary, the investigation will also cover collection of details from the accused, sources stated. The case of financial irregularities is investigated by narcotics and economic offences police inspector, Ramakrishna. There is apprehension that this incident may come in the way of announcing chief minister's medal to an officer. On January 2, announcement of chief minister's medal to ten policemen from coastal districts had been announced. The medals were to be presented on February 8 at Bengaluru. As per norms, officer receiving the medal should not be involved in any cases.
