Belagavi, Feb 9: In an attempt to evade police arrest, two persons plunged into river Malaprabha which resulted in their tragic death. The bodies were recovered on Monday, February 8.

Bursting into a group of gamblers, the police raided the group in the banks of the river in Ramdurg town on Sunday. Attempting to escape the police, some of them jumped into the river and managed to escape. However, Manjunath Laxman Bandiwaddar (28) and Sameer Mohammadsav Batkuri (23) got drowned.

The police and fire personnel failed to trace the two. Finally, the Natural Disaster Response Team (NDRF) from Belagavi recovered the bodies on Monday.
