Udupi, Feb 9: “Students should indulge in studies. Sending them outside to work is wrong. Parents should understand this,” said Udupi district children’s protection unit legal observer, Prabhakar Achar.

Udupi district children’s protection unit began operations at Saiberkatte market, Udupi district on Tuesday. He warned the parents when he saw children indulging in vegetable and fruit vending along with their parents.

He telephoned the respective school headmasters about the boys working in the fair. He warned parents not to bring their children to work in the market.

He created awareness in the market about child labour and the importance of education among the people and the traders in the market.

Social activist Suraksha was present.
