Bantwal: 30-year-old man commits suicide by jumping into river

Bantwal, Feb 9: A man committed suicide by jumping into a river because he felt that he could not save his ailing mother. The incident took place on Monday, February 8.

The deceased man has been identified as Neeraj (30), resident of Ananthady Pantadka. His mother is said to be in serious condition in a hospital in Deralakatte.

Neeraj committed suicide by jumping off the Panemangaluru Bridge on Monday, his body was recovered on Tuesday morning. Neeraj had updated status on his mobile that he was ending his life as he was unable to save his mother from dying.

The search for the body was conducted by local swimmer Mohammad Nandavara and team with the help from the fire department.

Bantwal town police have visited the spot and investigation is underway.
