Udupi: Virtual meet on promoting entrepreneurial ecosystem in coastal Karnataka to be held on Feb 12

Udupi, Feb 10: A virtual meet on ‘Promoting Entrepreneurial Ecosystem in Coastal Karnataka’ will be held on February 12 from 10 am to 12.30 pm through the Webex platform and is open to all.

This meet is jointly organised by Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), Mangalore University, NITK Surathkal, Nitte (Deemed to be University), Yenepoya University, Srinivas University, CII Mangalore Chapter and IKP.

The programme is supported by the National Science & Technology Entrepreneurship Board (NSTEDB), Department of Science & Technology (DST), Biotechnology Industry Assistance Council (BIRAC), Department of Biotechnology, Atal Innovation Mission, NITI Ayog of Government of India and Department of IT, BT and S&T, Government of Karnataka and Indian STEP and Business Incubator Association (ISBA).

The coastal Karnataka region is known for education, a strong cultural environment and also several industries, namely cashew, fisheries, hotel, banking, manufacturing, Information Technology, etc emerged from the region. The region has several STEP/incubators supported by several departments of central and state governments. Considering the several initiatives by the Government of India, namely, Atmanirbhar Bharat, NEP (New Education Policy), STIP (Science, Technology and Innovation Policy), NISP (National Innovation and Startup Policy), it has been planned to have a virtual meet of relevant stakeholders on 'Promoting Entrepreneurial Ecosystem in Coastal Karnataka'. Lt Gen (Dr) M D Venkatesh, MAHE vice-chancellor mentioned the necessity to develop the region as an emerging hub for innovation and entrepreneurship on the global map. The broad objectives of the virtual meet strengthen the entrepreneurial ecosystem of the regional, industry-institute interaction/networking at the regional level, organising annual entrepreneurship/tech summits, communication between stakeholders and to the society about innovation and entrepreneurship developments.

Vice-chancellors of the regional universities, director of NITK, chairman of CII Mangaluru chapter, representatives from various departments of the central and state governments, president of ISBA, co-founders of leading companies of the region and CEOs of the incubators of the region will be the panelists. Dr T V Mohandas Pai, chairman of Manipal Global Education Services Pvt Ltd will deliver the keynote address.

The meet is open to the students, faculty, entrepreneurs, industry professionals, all those who are associated with developing the entrepreneurial ecosystem of the region.
