Udupi: Catholic Sabha comes forward to construct house for poor family

Udupi, Feb 10: A house at Manipura, Katpady, here, in which a family resides has become old and feeble and could collapse at any time. Catholic Sabha in the city, which realized the gravity of the situation is determined to construct the house for the poor family.

Gilbert Pinto's family lives in the house which was constructed about 45 years ago. Gilbert Pinto was employed as a vehicle driver but is unable to work due to problems with his eyesight. Gilbert’s son had bought an autorickshaw on borrowed money. The family depends only on its earnings for their livelihood.



Their house was inundated during the recent floods and a portion of the house had given in.

Members of the Catholic Sabha decided to construct a 550 square feet house for them. The house will be built with donations from kind-hearted people. Catholic Sabha plans to hand over the house during Easter this year. The work on the construction has already begun.

    A very good initiative, from the community need sensitive leaders of Catholic Sabha Udupi Varado Catholic sabha leadership promotes the causes of needy and encourages it's units at Parish and Varado(Deanery -zone). Every year, our leaders are strive to address the financial needs of the community, with priority to health, housing and education. Hats off to Varado leaders. Last year also they organised Melwin Peris Night and contributed for housing, medical and educational needs.

    One cant say it is a house .Even a cattle shed is looking better. How they lived there till now God only knows.very sad.Thank God now Catholic Saba is come forward to help. May God bless them If any help is needed please send me the account number.

    very good initiative from catholic Sabha, helping poor is helping god. Such acts must be practised by all communities across india to help their less fortunate brothers. Vande vasudaiva kutumbham.
